Derek Williams RBSA FRSA (28/02/32 – 10/10/09)

About the Artist; -

Derek was born in Dudley West Midlands and studied Art in the West Midlands and London. He taught art at the West Midlands college of higher Education Walsall and at the College of Adult Education/Further Education Wolverhampton. Until ill health over took him he ran private Art courses and workshops in the Midlands and in Wales,

One of his students went onto study at the Slade school of Art in London having been voted the top student in both her first and second years there.

Derek exhibited at; -

The Mall galleries, The RBSA and RCA, Art Matters, The Museum of modern Art Wales- work in their permanent collection, 

Prizewinner of a USA International Artist magazine. 

Tenby Art festival – Derek was highly commended. 

Had many sales at Albany Gallery Cardiff. 

Derek has had many solo exhibitions and work in many other prestigious Galleries in the country and all over the world.

Commissioned work; -

Ceredigion CC, Wolverhampton Borough Council and Bilston College of further Education etc…

Derek was a highly gifted and skilled painter and was honoured to be nominated in America as one of the top 10 British Artists.

His amazing talents shows in his paintings as he seems to capture the sprit of the moment, bringing his paintings to life, as you gaze into his work you will see this for yourself.

Derek was a strong character, but above all was a kindly friendly man always ready to help others, and we as a family will always have a cherished place in our hearts for this very special lovely man.
